CFSL ONLINE RAPID TEAMS CHESS CUP 2020

This is an online Rapid Team Chess Championship where four players plus one reserve will take part.

Time Control of the event is 15 mins + 10 secs increment from move one. The event will be held in four stages.

CFSL will call teams for the event. Once the federation received the entries, teams will be categorized according to the average ELO rating of the players.

Teams will be categorized into three groups in descending order of the team average rating. (After closing the registration, CFSL will announce this beforehand)

  • Group A — High ELO Rating average (Top Five Trains)
  • Group B — Medium ELO Rating average (Depend on registered teams)
  • Group C — Less ELO Rating Average (Depend on registered teams)

With the number of registered teams, the organizer may add another Group to the event. (If so event will be held on 19, 20, 26, 27 & 29 December)

One player can represent one team & one group only.

Once the registration form is submitted, players can't change their teams. In the first stage

Teams in Group "C" will play seven rounds of Swiss event. The top three teams will be advanced to Stage two.

In the Second Stage

With the teams advanced from stage one (Group "C") and teams in Group "B" will play seven rounds of Swiss event. The top three teams will be advanced to Stage three.

In the third stage

With the teams advanced from stage two (Group "B") and teams in Group A will play seven rounds of Round robin event. The top four teams will be advanced to stage four.

In the fourth stage

The top four teams in the third stage will play double rounds knockout event as follow.

 


 

Third and Fourth places will be selected using double rounds event among the losing teams in semi-finals.

Awards

Stage One — Medals, and Certificates for the top three teams.
Stage Two — Medals, and Certificates for the top three teams.

Stage Three - Medals, and Certificates for the top three teams. Board Prizes using performance ratings (Winners will be awarded Chess Sets)

Stage Four

a)    Champions Team — Rs 25,000.00 + Trophy + Medals + Certificates

b)    First Runners up Team — Rs 15,000.00 + Trophy + Medals + Certificates

c)    Second Runners up Team — Rs 10,000.00 + Trophy + Medals + Certificates

d)    Fourth Place Team — Rs 5,000.00 + Certificates

Team Composition and Regulations

A team should consist of 04 players and 01 reserve player & a team manager. (Team manager should not be a player in the team)

Teams allowed to have one foreign Titled Player (GM/WGM/LM only) to play in the team.

The Team Manager and the captain of the team should submit their respective team details as
per the form attached herewith &the Team manager's and Captain's participation in the
the technical meeting is compulsory. The technical meeting will be held on 16. December 2020 at

 

07.30 pm via Zoom (Link will be circulated), If any team failed to participate in the meeting they will be disqualified.

WhatsApp group will be created and all the players should get added to this group.

Tournament Regulations

Players should log in to chess.com/live (not only www.chess.com) and play on laptops, not phones. Register your real name in your chess.com profile and upload your ID photo.

The schedule for the event will be published beforehand.

The pairing of each round and results will be published in www.chess-results.com under the SRI federation. Please check and inform us immediately of corrections, if any,

Only the player should be in his/her playing room. Your webcam, speaker, and microphone should work at all times. Also, players should share their screens with the organizers. Observe silence and avoid background noise. (Zoom software will be used)

Players should activate their screen share. Please be sure to share your entire screen, not just the browser. We should be able to see your taskbar that shows which programs are open. We may also ask to see your computer's Task Manager for confirmation.

Each round shall take around 45 minutes. Players should be ready for the next round. If any Player goes out from their seat, they should return and be at their seats in the same camera angles and wait for the Arbiter to start the round. Each round shall start around 5 minutes after posting of pairings on chess.com.

Anti-Cheating regulations will be followed seriously and we expect fair play & good sportsmanship from all the participants.

Games will be closely monitored. Engines will be used for the analysis purpose and randomly games will be analyzed by www.chess.com.If we found any misconduct or violation, the team, and the player will be removed from the event and disciplinary actions will be taken accordingly by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka. Players may be banned from competitive chess if they found cheated.

All players should complete the tournament. Those who have to withdraw should announce to Arbiter immediately after their last game and before pairings are published for the next round. Players should email their reason for withdrawal to the organizing committee. This is the responsibility of the Team Captain and the Team Manager

Please do not play unofficial games in between rounds during the tournament. The organizer's decision is the final decision regarding any misconduct.

The the registration fee for the event is Rs 1,000.00 per team. Teams should deposit the registration fee to the following Bank account and send the scanned payment slip with the duly filled registration form on or before 13. December 2020 at 05.00 pm
