Isuru Alahakoon from Sri Lanka won Kandy Open International Chess Festival - 2019
with 10 wins out of 11 games. Fide Master Mitrabha Guha from India won second place with 9.5 points and Fide Master G C Anuruddha had to satisfy with the third place.

Women Fide Master Dinushki Premanath won the women's section of the 10th Kandy Open with an impressive score of  9.0 points out of 11 games and she was unbeaten during the chess tournament.

Young Tallent of Sri Lanka S R Deegoda Preformed Exceptionally well in the tournament but he lost his last game to Isuru Alahakoon and Lost the Championship.

IM Mitrabha Guha wins 10th Kandy Open Blitz tournament 2019

Mitrabha being strong in blitz, scored 100% and finished half a point ahead of the runner-up with 8.0/8. He also gained 13 Elo rating points.

The tournament was held  at Oak Ray Regency Kandy,

 Kandy Open International Chess Festival - Sri Lanka's biggest chess event of Sri Lanka.
The Tournament will be held on 22nd to 27th August 2019 as an 11 round tournament.

This year we have increased the total prize fund of the event to Rs.1,025,000.00 [ One million and twenty-five thousand rupees ] We are expecting more than 30 foreign players including 05 - 10 International Masters. The tournament venue is Oak Ray Regency - Kandy, which is one of the finest four-star hotels in the hill capital.
