“FOX HILL CHESS FIESTA” Inter Institutions International Rating Team Chess Championship - 2019

Sri Lanka Navy Chess Team Wins The First FOX HILL CHESS FIESTA 2019. the tournament was held at Fox Hill area in Diyatalawa from 30, 31 August to 01, 02 September 2019. Sri Lanka Navy team consists of former Sri Lanka national chess champion Isuru Alahakoon, Candidate Master Chandana Wijeckoon, Candidate Master Lasitha Subash, R R C L Jayathilake and L D P Madushanka. Sri Lanka Navy Chess Team has been unbeaten during the tournament. they only drew against the University of Moratuwa Men Chess Team and the University of Moratuwa Men Chess Team A.

University of Peradeniya Men Chess Team Manages to secure second place and  Sri Lanka Navy Chess Team A placed third with impressive performance.

Final Standings

“Foxhill Chess Fiesta” just another milestone in the endeavor to reach heights in this distinct game and to fervently attempts to reach out minds of the Sri Lankan Chess Community. The tournament, being the Army Chess Committee first-ever Rated International Chess Championship conducted in Sri Lanka independently would be a novel and exciting experience for both Cooperate and Higher Education Institutes/Organizations in addition to the teams from the Sri Lanka Army and other sister services. Moreover, this will be a rare opportunity to experience the game of Chess in a heart and soul touching salubrious climate in hilly mounts in the legendry Fox Hill area in Diyatalawa from 30, 31 August to 01, 02 September 2019.

 PARTICIPATION & REGULATIONS

The competitors should be over 20 years of age representing Cooperate and Higher

Education Institutes/Organizations, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force or Sri

Lanka Police and should apply along with a copy of the National Identity Card or Service Identity

Card placing proof of the above. Any number of teams from an institution/organization, tri-services

and Police can apply to take part in the tournament consisting of 05 players (including the Reserve).

The main guidelines of the tournament will be as follows.

• The tournament is FIDE rated & FIDE Rules will govern the competition.
• The Tournament is played as 7 Rounds under Team Swiss System with the time control of 1.30 hours Fischer Mode (90 min + 30 secs/move).
• The event will be held as open event and prizes will be given separately under Open& Women Categories.
• The Tournament will be fully monitored by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka.
• Event calculated under Match Point.
• Following Tie Brake will be used:

(1) Direct Encounter
(2) Game Points
(3) Sonneborn – Berger

REGISTRATION

The registration fee for the event is Rs10,000.00 per team and has to be credited to the
Account No 80273574 of the Army Chess Committee maintained at Homagama branch of
Bank of Ceylon. The payment receipt along with the Application should be sent to the
following email address on or before 15 August 2019.
