The 9th Mercantile/ Government Services International Rating Chess Championships 2020
Organized By Chess Federation of Sri Lanka
The 9th Mercantile/ Government Services International Rating Chess Championships 2020 organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka with the support of the Mercantile Chess Association, on behalf of FIDE, the World Chess Federation will be held from 29th August to 1st September 2020 at SATHARA Auditorium with a total cash prize of Rs. 225,000/=.
Schedule: 29th August 2019 at 9.00 a.m. Inauguration & Round 1& 2, 30th of August - Round 3 & 4, 31st0f August at 4.00 p.m. Rd 5 and 1st September 2020 - Round 6 & 7 with PDF.
Eligibility: Open for all Chess players working in the Mercantile or Government sector. Players should be ready to provide proof for their employees when requested. All those who contribute to the EPF/ and those who are in regular service of forces can only participate in the event. The retired people are also accepted with due service records.
Team Event
The best 3 players’ results, 2 Men & a Woman or 2 Women and a Man will be counted for the team results. A maximum of 5 players can be included per team. A company may enter the number of teams as they wish.

Champion - Trophy, Gold Medal & Rs. 40,000/=
1st Runner up - Silver Medal & Rs. 25,000/=
2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & Rs. 15,000/=
4th -10th - Rs. 5,000/= each
Best Girls
Champion - Trophy, Gold Medal & Rs. 15,000/=
1st Runner up - Silver Medal, & Rs. 10,000/=
2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & Rs. 5,000/=
Best Unrated Player
Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 5,000/=
1st Runner up - Silver Medal & Rs. 3,000/=
2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & Rs. 2,000/=
Best Player - Rating category less than 1600
Champion - Gold Medal & Rs. 5,000/=
1st Runner up - Silver Medal & Rs. 3,000/=
2nd Runner up - Bronze Medal & Rs. 2,000/=
Team event - Gold with Rs. 25,000/=, Silver with Rs. 20,000/= and Bronze medals with Rs. 15,000/= a trophy (For Champion) will be awarded. All amounts are in Sri Lankan Rupees.
All participants will be provided with certificates.
Accommodation: The accommodation costs should be borne by the participants or their teams. Foreigners are also allowed if they are permanent working members of mercantile/ Government service organizations of the respective country.

Entry Fees: All title players and rating above 2000 are free.
Rated player above 1600 ; Rs. 2,000/=
Rated players less than 1600 : Rs. 2,500/=
Unrated players : Rs. 3,500/=
Late fee of Rs. 1,000/= will be charged for the entries received after 28th August 2020. This applies even for rated players, whom are allowed to do registration even via Email
