Royal College - Colombo 07 won the 24th Battle Of The Kings All Island Inter School Under 20 Chess Championship - 2019. The Chess Tournament was held at Royal College, Colombo

from 3rd of January to 5th of January 2020, Royal College team remains unbeaten during the tournament. Nalanda College Chess Team Mange to Secure 2nd Place while Isipathana College Chess Team won the third place. Mahamaya Girls College - Kandy Won the Chess Championship in Women's Section. H M H Janandani Abeysinghe of Mahamaya Girls College Chess Team won the board prize for board number 3.

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Royal College Chess Club will be organizing the 24th Battle of the Kings All Island Inter School under 20 Chess Championship which is the longest continuously held Inter-School Chess Tournament organized by a school.

The tournament will be held on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of January, 2020 at Royal College premises. This year too we hope to make the tournament an International (FIDE) Rated event with the support of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka. Our event became the first Inter-School Team Tournament to be internationally rated in 2016.

We take great pleasure in inviting you and a senior team consisting of 7 players to take part in the above tournament This tournament attracts about 50 schools from all over the country. This year too we have many arrangements to organize the tournament on a grand scale.

All players should be under 20 years of age on the 1st of January 2020
There will be 5 rounds in the above tournament
A 50 team cap will be implemented on a first come first serve basis
A registration fee of Rs.2100 per team will be required
Registration and the payment of registration fees should be done prior to the 1st round of the tournament
The tournament chief arbiter's decision will be the final regarding any disputes
The tournament will be conducted according to the latest CFSL and FIDE rules
Game points will be used for pairing and determining standards
The score sheets will be the property of the organizer
Each team should bring at least 3 chess sets and as many chess clocks as possible
There will be a special event between the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Details will be announced at the Captains’ Meeting
All teams who require accommodation can contact us.
The prizes will be awarded to the Overall Champion, 1st Runners up, 2nd Runners up and the 3 Best Girls teams in the event
