SRI LANKAN CHESS PLAYERS AT WESTERN ASIAN YOUTH & JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP-2019
The Western Asian Youth & Junior Chess Championship-2019 was held at The Tivoli Grand Resort & Hotel, New Delhi on Thursday. A total number of 377 players participated in the prestigious event, which has 16 different age categories and played under Standard, Rapid, and Blitz format.

50 players represent Sri Lanka for the above tournament. H K T Dewnethmie Dahampriya won the bronze medal in Under 16 Girls Rapid Format.G M H Thilakarathne of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala Won The Silvers medal in Under 18 Blitz Category. Unfortunately, he missed the medal in Classic Tournament
W Buthmi J Epa, Ashvini Pavalachandran, U Vishaleni, J A K Saranath Nanayakkara, Ehsha Mishela Pallie performed well in the tournament. overall
it was a great performance from all Sri Lankan players
